could it be?
Reflections on Covid-19
There is no dismissing that this is a painful and challenging time for our world.
Companies closing, loved ones lost, some starving…
Punishment that seems so undeserved.
But could it be?
That this is a time to actually learn how to love thy neighbor as thyself.
Not just neighboring homes.
But neighboring states...neighboring countries...a neighboring globe.
Could it be?
That this is a time to notice.
Steam rising from your cup, a dancing child through the hallway, a wave from the neighbor...
Things you would never normally even consider giving your sole focus.
Could it be?
That this time has slowed the entire globe to see…
That human busyness is actually just artificial purpose.
And being still is actually where we are most effective and free.
Could it be?
That this is a time where the world learns what it means to actually have compassion for its leaders.
Less criticism, more prayer. Less pessimists, and more interceders.
Can you imagine?
The day that this is all said and done.
Every coffee date, every smile, will have a little more magic, a little more sun.
I don’t write these words to cover up any pain.
I write these words to a world to look deeper inside,
To see what we have also already gained.
